The State of Palestine has officially conveyed its appreciation to Mauritius for the firm and principled stand taken by the Government of Mauritius on the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza.

In a letter addressed to Mauritian Foreign Minister Dhananjay Ramful, Dr. Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Palestine, hailed Mauritius’ public statement of 13 August 2025 condemning Israel’s actions as an “ongoing human-made humanitarian crisis engineered by the occupying power against the Palestinian people in Gaza.”
Strong stand on justice and human rights
The letter underscores that Mauritius’ position, reaffirming the Palestinian people’s inalienable rights to life, dignity, and statehood, reflects the country’s longstanding commitment to justice, peace, and the rule of international law. Dr. Shahin emphasized that Port-Louis’ call for “an immediate and permanent ceasefire leading to peace” sends a powerful message of solidarity to Palestinians enduring hardship.
Two-State solution and multilateral engagement
Palestine also highlighted Mauritius’ unwavering support for the Two-State solution and its active engagement in the United Nations and multilateral platforms to promote peace, uphold humanitarian law, and encourage dialogue. “Such support strengthens the international consensus and keeps alive the prospect of a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace in our region,” the letter reads.
Deepening bilateral ties
Looking ahead, the Palestinian government expressed its hope to further strengthen bonds of friendship and cooperation with Mauritius, particularly in the pursuit of international justice and peace. This diplomatic exchange comes at a time when the Gaza crisis continues to dominate international concern, and Mauritius’ voice adds weight to global calls for an end to hostilities and respect for humanitarian law.
